TikTok might be the new kid on the block, but it's taking the world by storm. Whether you're just dipping your toe in the TikTok universe or you've been posting content for a while, we've put together some great ideas to get the most out of TikTok.

Even if you're super familiar with TikTok and what's out there, keep scoping out what's going on so you can be across new features and what's trending. TikTok itself has a helpful Trend Discovery tool that will give you some great insights into the songs, hashtags, creators and videos that are popular right now. You can then get a bit a creative and incorporate some of these trends into your own content to drive engagement.


Get Your Specs Right 

Like any creative you're posting on your social channels, it's important to format your posts and videos correctly. TikTok's layout favours vertical video formats, so don't post the same video you've used on YouTube or Facebook without reformatting it for TikTok first. As we know, users have limited attention spans, and even though TikTok has extended the maximum video length to 10 minutes, the recommended video length from TikTok themselves is between 21-24 seconds.


Be Savvy With Your Posting

TikTok has its own algorithm, and you'll need to understand how it works to maximise the performance of your content. The 'For You' feed pulls from videos posted in the last 90 days, so it's important to upload fresh content on a regular basis to increase the overall performance of your channel. But keep in mind that the number of videos you post doesn't actually impact how your content is recommended in the 'For You' feed. Yes, you want to be posting regularly, but don't overdo it because your channel won't get more engagement and exposure just because you post more videos.
